NAKED chickens

Oh those poor chickens! I can't imagine gong through life with no protection from the elements! Sunburn and frostbite, yikes!! Feathers provide an amazing amount of protection from predators as well. I suppose if you were raising them for meat it would be convienient not to have to pluck them, but you would have to provide really good shelter from the above mentioned issues.

Wouldn't work in canada but if the run was covered a more tropical place they would thrive. They would be easier to process too.

That's just wrong! They're embarrassed you can tell.

Personally I think that even in Tropical regions they would be very volnerable. There are plenty plants, insects, etc that can get to such unprotected skin! Our Turken had just a neck that was bare, and it got cut, bruised, and banged up all the time! (from other chickens, but that is another thing)

To me, it is another sick way just to have easier, faster food.

I saw a show on the discovery channel about naked chickens.

They are being bred that way so that they can succesfuly thrive in the very hot climates. It is aparently working!?!?!
