I'm sorry about your girl Basil. I hope she's ok.

It is just for this reason that I won't get any production breed chickens. I couldn't bear knowing that they will die young by providing me with lots of delicious eggs.

I feel the same too. These are my 2 last Isa Brown hens. I love their personality though, they like to hang around, easy to pick up and they love to be pampered, held, and they talk back. My Wyandotte & Australorp..no way! All the different breed//types of chickens I have, I love Isa Brown the most because they are so personal & good communicator.

See how Basil goes today, she is in and out of the nestbox, but no egg. She might be internal laying.

Get more chick feed for my baby chicks and sugarcane mulch. Chicken shopping preparing for more incoming rain, muddy chicken runs.

Went to a German Christmas craft fair in Sussex Co.
Stopped at our daughter's for a brief visit.
Went to the club and filled bird feeders.

Spent the majority of the day cutting down broken branches and adding them to the brush piles.

I organized the storage shed - 90% of the way there.
I built and hung a Dutch door on my aggressive rooster's run.
I started cutting out a skirt pattern but ran out of fabric. Back to Joanne's next week...
