It’s raining here again.
This morning, my husband and my son started on the new coop.

I watched them work and played frisbee with my dog.
I spent time with our other animals before the rain.
Spent some time with the new chicks.

Worked two dogs.
Filled bird feeders. - still no Grosbeaks.
Checked the vernal pools.

Hoed the asparagus bed
Did a load of laundry, dried it on the line
Hooked up the hose for the garden (approx 300 feet)

Weeded the asparagus bed and mulched to hopefully prevent more weeds from coming up...
Will study some.
Will do something else...probably make a card for my mom for mother's day tomorrow.

Hoed the asparagus bed

That is something I would never do. Too easy to damage the roots.

Went to breakfast with my husband and his mom. Went and got the shopping done. Went to visit with the kids and grandkids. Got home and finished setting the posts for the fence. Watered the garden and got all the animals fed and watered. Then we got to watch the youngest granddaughter and middle grandson and his friend ride the quad. Finally decided it's time for everyone to get gone so we came inside.

Not a deep hoeing, just scraping the surface. The "deep" hoeing was in between the rows. I catch the tip of the hoe under the mat of the weed and pull it up.

The asparagus roots don't stay in the rows but spread very widely. As I said, I would never hoe in an asparagus patch.

I have found asparagus roots as much as 3' outside of my asparagus patch.
