:welcome :frow I can't help you but what we did is, our farm is largely on top of a hill so we call our farm Hilltop Farm. Everyone around knows us as Hilltop Farm. I sell eggs and vegie's during the season. I raise pure (heritage) breeds and sell fertilized eggs during the season. I don't have many breeds, they are noted in my signature. In the past I raised many other breeds but now only concentrate on these. I do show my birds at poultry shows. It's a lot of work but a labor of love. I don't sell my birds from my property anymore but have in the past. Now I take any I have to sell to a local farm swap and sell them. Years ago we had the farm swaps here at the farm but because of liability for if someone got hurt on our property we relocated it to our local TSC. Where do you live? Good luck with your endeavor and have fun...

Sounds like your name was a perfect fit! I’m sure I’ll find my perfect fit too once I have time to really sit down and think it over. I’m located in Southwest Ohio. I started with chicks in March/April and have slowly added more with the last round of chicks due to ship to me in another few weeks. I finally have a steady supply of around 3 dozen eggs per week coming in and by Spring I hope to have a good incubator setup so I can start hatching and selling. Between the chickens and my other animals there is never a dull moment around our place but as you said it is a labor of love and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Have you hatched out any chicks in the past? Remember around half of the chicks you hatch out will be males. I sell my extra males which helps with the feed costs because I grow them out and keep the best as my future breeders. Again, good luck and have fun...

I’ve hatched a duckling but no chicks yet! I plan to get rid of all hatchlings M or F unless I would get a really cool color combo or have a need for more layers/breeders. Appreciate the advice!:)

Maybe you can consign products from other hobbyist if you decide to expand or earn extra money from alternate products. Think Big! Country home goods, crafts, t-shirts and hats with your logo.....

Love those suggestions! This is basically my ultimate goal which is why I’m being so picky about the name lol. I’ve ran a home based but very successful cake and cupcake business for over three years so my overall plan is to have a small building on our property that I can sell my baked goods, produce, eggs, and goat milk products from - I have big plans, it’s just a matter of finding the time to tackle them!
