I apologize in advance for the picture quality, but my 19 month old isn't too handy with the camera and hubby was working. Up for display today are my other 5 (hopefully) ladies. The people we got them from have Doms, Americaunas, Araucanas, Buff Orpingtons, Silkies, New Hampshire, RI Reds, & White Plymouth Rock. At least, that's what they told us. These are our first chickens and we've had them for 2 weeks.

Madeleine is about 5 weeks old, I am pretty sure she's a hen but hey what do I know:

Momma is also 5 weeks and looks similar to Maddy but with less buff color and more white. S/he has green legs/feet. No clue if s/he's a hen or not:

Misfit is 4 weeks old, I might be leaning towards roo for this one too. Feathered legs, green feet:

Munk is 2 1/2 weeks old and probably too young for sexing but maybe you could identify the breed? Green legs & feet, no feathers.

Mohawk is also 2 1/2 weeks old. Breed ideas? Yellow/Orange legs & feet.

Thanks y'all!

Maddy, Momma and Misfit all appear to be EE's...I believe that Maddy is a rooster. The other two look like hens to me, but a pic of them standing by themselves would make it easier. The other 2 are a little young to sex but they appear to be EE's also. And seeing the feathered legs on Misfit...they have to have a feather-legged chicken of some kind.

The Silkie chick and the (probable?) Dom we got from them both have feathered legs too. I will try and snag some pictures of them standing tomorrow. They don't stay still for very long for me though! Do you think Misfit might be part Silkie?

no, I don't think they are part silkie or they would probably show other signs of silkie blood, like poofy silky feathers or dark skin, or extra toes. It is of course a possibility, however, they aren't showing any signs of it. Silkies should have black skin, 5 toes and feathered legs.

Of the parents listed, silkies are the only ones with feathered legs. Brahmas have feathered legs and only 4 toes and wouldn't carry the silky gene. But perhaps their silkies are "diluted" to begin with. Most if not all of these chicks look like they might be EEs. I agree that Maddy looks like the roo of the bunch. The views of the 2 youngest make it difficult to tell. A side view and then a good view of the comb from the front would help

Update: So far they all appear to be hens. I think Mohawk looks like a roo but he's not crowing yet and my husband thinks he's a she. Madeline, Misfit, and Momma are definitely hens. Major Poppycock (the Dom that I now think is a Barred Rock mix) is a roo. He's gorgeous and such a sweet boy but we can't keep him. The Silkie mix chick we had gotten looks like a roo too. I'll post updated pictures of them all tonight. We've since gotten 6 Silkie chicks, some Polish, Houdan, Sultan, d'Uccles, and Frizzles too. Chicken math?
