We have a pen that is comprised of hardware cloth on all sides and bottom, not the top (I know). Something got one of our runner ducks tonight. Back of the head and neck all torn up. It didn't make it. We had a mink once, and it looked different. Raccoon? Walls are 12ft

Raccoon, mink, weasel at this point doesn't matter what you need to do is cover the top because all 3 climb and will be back. Very sorry for your loss.
a camera set up close to your pen will give you an idea as to what is coming around.

Yes, you're right. We put the dead I've in a trap. Something tried to get it, but the trap failed.
