Name the predator: bird head found near my chicken run

Today I was in my yard and found a little pile of down feathers, two little bloody bones, and a dove head.... But I'm wondering what animal did this?.... The remains were found under a [mulberry] tree. I thought that something may have been up there eating the bird and stuff just fell down, but the feathers and body parts were all pretty close together (6 inch radius). Seems like the down would have been more scattered if falling from the tree. Very curious to know what predator....

What you described is the leavings from a hawk of some kind devouring a dove.
Maybe a Coopers' hawk or else a Blue Darter a.k.a. a Sharp shinned hawk.

A month back we had a coopers hawk land in the yard.

My husband seems to think this was a hawk too. Apparently they'll leave a pile of beaks and feet below where they eat.

This morning I noticed that the quail and doves that usually take over the yard are scarce. Nothing but a few juveniles running around. I think they know when there's danger.
