So we don't normally name our chickens; if they get a name at all its something like Orp1.(she's the first Orpington that started laying)
However we've got a second rooster now and it's starting to get confusing!
Anyone think of any names?
He's a Light Sussex x Cuckoo Orpington, and a very good boy, rather large (as in the biggest of all our chickens) and just getting the hang of looking after his hens.

Since you said he is so large, he could be a Moby, like Moby Dick, or maybe a Boomer? Poker, short for poker chip? Of course, names are also subject to individual personalities... 🤔

Hmm, I don't think any of those quite work for him, who was Moby Dick?

is a fictional giant whale who ate people, and since your guy is a nice boy, it probably wouldn't fit him anyway :)
Glad to hear he is a nice boy!
Thanks! And yes that doesn't sound quite right.
His father and grandfather are (or were, I don't own the grandfather)
both very nice roos, so he's got good genetics.

That's great! I have a cherished rooster, but he is a little guy, unlike yours. It sounds like your guy will be a keeper!

What kind of rooster is yours? I love hearing about the good roosters!
And yeah I think we're going to be keeping him; it wasn't really the idea but ever since he hatched he was just so handsome, and well he did get a little naughty when he was a teenager, he's so polite and watchful now.
Although I'm not sure he's brave enough to be really useful!
