We're fairly new to the small farm life but have a rule...if it's food, don't name it but if it's a breeder/layer, it gets a name because we plan on having them around for quite some time.
So far we have 18 chickens that are all named, 3 goats that are named but their young probably won't be, and at least 12 rabbits (the 4 breeders are named, the 8 young ones are not). I say "at least 12 rabbits" because one of the females kindled a little while ago and we aren't sure how many she has had, we'll find out a little later when things have settled down.
