Naptha soap !!!!!!!!!!!

Quote:
My boss's wife told me for a grease stain, put a squirt of lighter fluid on it. Works every time!!!

I have since used liquid bleach and have no problems. I have now put two cups of dry bleach in my mix and it works great. I had a table cloth..white Christmas one...that was put away with a stain on it that was missed last year. It came out!!! Completely!! I also hang my clothes outside now...I use to use the dryer and will again come winter...but the sun sure helps bleach those whites? I love hanging out now.

When I finally found it at Kroger several months ago, I bought about 6 bars, so I shouldn't run out for quite a while.

We live in the boonies and hard to get the supplies I need to make the detergent but..lo and behold our local grocery started carrying all of it to make the detergent

They are probably charging way too much but I will have to drive aways to get it anyway.

I found the borax and the non chlorine bleach, but couldn't find naptha soap or washing soda....I did find a laundry bar soap called "Colgate's Octagon All-Purpose Soap." Has anyone used that in the laundry detergent mix? I can't find any list of ingredients on it, but it was only 76 cents for a 7 oz. bar.

after no luck finding the naptha in stock with in 50 miles, I went to the local Ace Hdwre last Saturday and they special ordered it for me..now to find the washing soda..I am going to Kroger tomorrow and hope they will have it.

I can't wait to try this!!

I can honestly say I have never read the label, but I am assuming that FN soap is just castile soap. Your local health food store has it, they even have it in liquid and scented and all sort of nice things. It's gonna cost you a little more, but the detergent last so long, its not a burden at all. I make a big batch and share with with my kids. They love it. I put in l cup of the Oxy stuff too, I have coupons $1 off and its less than $3 and I can get three cups out of one plastic tub. . .the small size. I LOVE this detergent!!!! I have a super capacity washer and use a tbsp., and one part of a batch will last me over a month and I do laundry three times a week most weeks.

I also had problems finding the Fels-Naptha soap, but if you have a Publix
grocery store in your area, they will probably have it. It's the only place in
our area that has a reliable stock on hand. They also carry the super washing
soda and that seems to work better than just using the Arm & Hammer baking soda
for me. (Really hard water here)

With the economy so bad, I think the demand is growing and supplies are down, so when I find the ingredients, I try to stock up. I love it and use it in the dishwasher. It
doesn't etch my glasses and doesn't cause my hand to break out if I
get it on my skin the way the popular dish washer detergents do.

I live in Southern California and couldn't find it anywhere last time around. They didn't run out, it was just gone. I asked at two stores and one said its too "caustic, so they had to pull it from their shelves"???? The other one said there was some issue with transporting it. I have no idea if either is true. I know I used to be able to find out without an issue and now it's a hot commodity. Luckily I bought 20 bars when I did find it. I also bought 15 boxes of washing soda when I finally found that. Some environmental group probably found out it is leaking into our water supply and slowly killing the one eyed monkey fish so we can no longer buy it in California.

???

The laundry soap recipe is for washing soda, not baking soda. It is sodium
carbonate, which is also sold as a pool chemical, a pH adjuster.

I'm sure Octagon would work as well.
