I have one hen that has some nasal discharge and I believe she is sneezing. She is laying and eating fine. She seems to be active and watched her poop today and the droppings looked normal. I’m freaking out because of this avian flu thing going around. I don’t have a local vet to take her to and I really don’t know how to separate her… we have a small backyard flock of 8 hens. I did grab her today and use some VetRX on her. I also put some in their water as well as some oregano oil. When I was holding her I could hear her breathing sounded a little rattled.

Any suggestions?

I do use DE and we do have AI in our state. It is a bit far from me but we do.

Today she isn’t sneezing but is gapping and shaking her head a little. I also noticed one of my other ones now shaking her head a little. Maybe it’s gapeworms?

Head shaking can mean sore ears or stopped up ears. Look inside to be sure the ears are clear. Check for any discharge from eyes or nares. Look inside the throat for anything unusual.

I’m not sure. @azygous?

DE a respiratory irritant. How do you use it?
I spray it all over the coop when I change out bedding. I have never had issues before but it concerns me now that she is stretching her neck and looks like she is yawning ... then shakes her head. This all following nasal discharge.
