Hi all,

I have a one year old rooster called Jeff, he's attacked me since he was about 6 months old. Even though I treat him the same as the hens and have used several deterrents to avoid a confrontation I still have to watch my back. Have numerous scars on my legs due to him and wondered if anyone has any advice. I work on a farm and they suggested he should be culled humanely but I'm unsure what to do

Thanks for the advice tried all sorts with him, I talk to him every day and try to hand feed him.

I thought this was a natural feature of a rooster, I never go near the hens unless they come near me when I feed them..feel like I've failed him

My beloved rooster Over Easy was a real calf spiker. I finally had to humanely cull him. Broke my heart. I tried everything prior to this, so sometimes it just happens.
Awww, thanks for that. He grabbed onto my back last year and made a right mess.

Its not your fault.
He is a rooster and he is the product of his breed and heritage. some roosters are just aggresive.
I would not rehome him except with total honesty with prospective new owners.
In the meantime, remove his spurs if he has any. They can do real serious damage.
I clip (garden clippers) my roosters spurs about an inch out from the leg. He is not a bad boy and does not attack me , but i have had roosters injure the hens by accident during mating.
If there is any chance that children could come in contact with your rooster, please cull him. He is to dangerous around kids.
