I’ve started a garden for my hens, it’s currently sectioned off until the plants can mature but I’m having issues with possibly aphids but for sure some type of insect.

Will lady bugs help control this and where can I purchase them? What are other natural remedies I can use? I refuse to use pesticides where my girls are.

Your chickens will eat the bugs. Are the bugs causing a problem now?

Most folks with mites use garden dust (Permethrin) in their coop and on their chickens.

Food grade diatomaceous earth might help too. That's all natural. We use that to keep mites out of the coop and parrot cages, and ants out of our house.

If you are buying beneficial insects for your garden, I would go with Assassin Bugs and/or Green Lacewings. I know my dad buys and releases eggs almost every year and never has any major infestations in his garden. I had a bad aphid infestation on some of my snow peas and chives this year and within a few days of the Lacewings hatching the aphid numbers have decreased dramatically. I've also seen the Assassins hard at work eating some of the bigger pests.
