gumpsgirl, check out my post on the previous page..page 1 last post. I don't see fleas but have crusty scab problems now! Usually if there is a big flea problem, I can walk through the house with white socks on and see them but don't see any??? Very confusing.

When I was a little girl, my parents used to get Cedar tree limbs and put them in our home. Under the beds, couches, in corners, in every room of the house and leave them there until the limbs die. Open all the windows and doors, so that the fleas can get out. This does not kill them, it just makes them leave. After a couple of days, put limbs outside around the doors and windows. I am having a problem with fleas also, but I have been unable to locate a Cedar tree in my area. I am still looking tough....lol

Hope that this helps someone.

Make a piece of garlic bread. Use garlic powder on some toast and my dogs would lap it right up. Don't let the pooch lick you afterward though as it makes some pow wow doggie breath.

EllyMae, I wish that I was closer and could get some. The fleas are driving me crazy. I hated to do so, but I went and bought some Sevin dust and dusted everything. It hasn't helped though. I am still looking for alternatives, though.

talos321, I do have an outside dog and an inside cat. The fleas are everywhere, inside and out. I will try the garlic bread for my dog, but I don't know if the cat will eat it or not. Then again, my cat eats almost anything....lol I will make sure that neither of them get any where close to where I can smell their breath........lol

since I dusted the seven, yes I said 7 house dogs with D.E. I see no fleas on them. I wear white socks or footies and never see a flea on them now. But I also dusted the house with D.E. and left it for a few hours before vacuuming. Now the poor dogs, two of them, have these large crusted scabs on their heads. One I aggressively removed with Dawn dish detergent, after using vaseline, bactine, triple anitbiotic ointment and Panalog. I then put the last of the Panalog on the wound. They have an appointment with the vet Saturday morning to get their wounds healed up. Poor babies, I had to give one a baby aspirin tonight. He hid from me all day after the bathing. He is the one who always runs to me first.

But I am glad they are finally going to the vet to get healed up...it was the soonest I could get them in. House seems to be free of fleas now. I think it is wonderful to find all these great ideas to keep our pets and houses flea proof. Thanks to all!!!

For fleas in the house, I have heard of people using bowls of water and Dawn, on the floor at night with a light over it. Keep doing this each night until there are no fleas in the water in the morning. Then, keep doing it for a month to get all the fleas that hatch later. I know this sounds tedious but it worked for my sister and one of my friends.

I tie a rag around the dog's necks that has been steeped in citronella, lavender and lemon oil. They hate it if it is too strong but it will repel fleas, gnats and flies.
