Natural Nest incubation(my attempt)

Ok so after a long night at work with no power I came home to find that some how 2 of my 3.5 week old Polish chicks had escaped their coop and Bern eaten by my dog... But because I love you all I did do my best to get some pics.

The Styrofoam incubator

My box fully closed.

My rice pillow.

My feathers.

The eggs. You can see my rocks and thermometers. Also the white egg at the to middle is the one with the hole in it for temperature monitoring.

Here is egg 8(the fridge egg) you can kind of sees the veins. Between having no help and a not great camera I couldn't get any good ones. I even tried to get a video but it didn't work.

Also I cracked open egg #2 and egg #9. #2 was badly rotten and #9 had a blood ring.

How did you hold temps in these bators without the power? I flubbed mine during our power out and am now waiting to get the temps up.

I never lost power at home only at work. And I saw I ink they'll be fine. I let my temps go lowish sometimes.

I just got home and found all my temps way to high... House was 80* box internal egg was 104.4* and air temps in the Styrofoam incubator was 108*. I aired everything out. Checked all the dials and then the viable eggs. #8, 12, and 13 SLM have jumping beans. SDL the rest are clear. Well #10 send like a quiter. In the Styrofoam I've only ever seen anything in eggs 1 and 2 both duck eggs.

Egg #2. These are Ancona ducks. I'm hoping already 1 chick starts showing something. It's day 8 for them.

So it's almost day 14 for my box and I can only see veins in #13, #12 and #8 seem to have quit, but I'm going to leave them. I have some that are very clearly clear and one that may be a quoted.

The first eggs in the Styrofoam bator are failing badly... Only two of the ducks are doing anything not they look great. The chickens are either all clear out have big bad blood rings... I'm gonna leave them all for a few days. The new batch seems better and like they may try to do something. The first batch is on day 9 and the second day 2. So who knows. I won't cull any till day 18 for chickens. And day 25 for the fowl. Man I hope I get some babies out of the 39 eggs I've set.

I'm already down to 9 in the box.

OK so I took pictures of all 26 eggs in the Styrofoam incubator. I will get pictures of the ones in the box after Once Upon A Time. 1-14 are 10 days old. The rest are 3 days.

Any advice on which should go, stay, need more or less humidity?

Well ladies and germs... it seems I have only lone #13 left. Im waiting on the pictures to load to photobucket. But in better news almost all of the eggs from the second shipment are developing. Also tomorrow is lockdown

Sorry about your eggies. Are those the ones in your homemade nest?

Also, I'm not sure if you ever corrected it, but still air incubators run higher than forced air. 101-102 is what most people run them at.
