NC Coyotes population increasing

HEY!! Who you calling a Grump!!

Sorry there...just a lil slow here. Never heard that term referred to an animal, only my husband before 2 cups of coffee every am.

If your in a area where you cant shoot guns, or you cant trap them, the key I found is to let them know they aren't welcome at your house. I'd confront them, if you see them go out and let them know you mean business. If there is only one I let my german short haired pointer show them this is his yard. If there is a pack I wouldn't recommend letting your dogs out unless you coyote hunt with them. I found that they will always run if you keep walking at them. If you scared take a base ball bat, I know many trapper's who use them for killing coyotes in traps. Good luck

if donkeys become attached to someone (thing) they will defend it from harm...whether it be a cat or another donkey

They also have a natural hatred of dogs. Although I did watch ours stare at a fox running right by her across the pasture. I said "ok, really? You're not going to do anything?" She looked at me like "What? I'm eating. Go chase it yourself."

J3172, I'd be careful about letting the dogs out. They're notorious around here for setting traps. They'll send out a female in heat to lure a domestic dog to the pack so they can ambush. The biggest problem with cotyotes is that they're too smart.

I'm not worried about my dogs, I hunt and trap coyotes, and trust me if they are bold enough to come into someones front yard their not shy. If a coyote isn't shy its not smart. As for my dog he's pretty big and very power, and so is my lab if I were to let them they'd shack that thing like a rag doll. But I would never let my bealge out she's tough but coyotes are to big. Then again all the coyotes in my area are hunted and trapped so they are very people shy. Good luck and I hope you take care of your problems before they take care of your chickens. best of luck
