Hello chicken people :) Happy owner of 5 chickens and 1 new found rooster. Now that we know she is a he... he will have to be adopted/gifted to some one in the country. :( We live in town and our chickens are a secret. They are approx. 12 weeks old and are living in a very large stock tank in the house for now. With daily trips outside to play. They will be moved to the green house once it's completed. We are hoping nobody will know we have them since the city is in the process of creating chicken unfriendly ordinances. I know that sounds a bit crazy but they are well loved and we learn new stuff about chickens almost daily now that they are pets.

I should say we did have 7 and one died really suddenly a couple weeks ago. It's poop was bloody and it was laying down. I separated it and it died within an hour. Wish I knew what happened. My husband thinks it ate something that ripped up it's insides somehow like a cherry pit. All the searches I've done lead me to believe chickens can eat cherries with no problems and they don't eat the pit.

sorry to hear that - maybe it had intestinal parasites
