NE Oklahoma Chicken Stock - Let's Plan!

Quote:
Hello and welcome! We are currently in the planning stages for a North East Oklahoma Chicken Stock. We are planning a pay the seller auction, along with many demonstrations put on by our own BYC'ers. We have arranged for a girl scout troop to provide the concessions. There are already booths being booked at this time for selling of chickens, crafts, cages and pens. We have a couple of artist in our group who will have some of their chicken art on display and for sale. I am currently working on the flyer that has dates times and location. Poco aka Coral has booked the Muskogee Fairgrounds livestock building for June 16th 2012 and the event will be sunup to sundown. You are welcome to bring all your friends and family. To my knowledge there are no judged events.

Okay, so simply a swap meet! I know we were all confused thinking it had judged events. Thank you for straightening that out. I'll pass the info along to Kansas. It sounds like fun!

You found us! The North East Oklahoma Chicken Stock is an opportunity for individuals and families to get together and talk chicken, sell chickens, buy chickens, and look at all the amazing chickens! We aren't having a show, but there will be a lot of poultry to see. Our Okie members are signing up now to do 30-minute demonstrations, and we will have several static displays as well. Static displays so far include caponizing, feeder insects, and showing chickens. There's a lot more coming, so drop in on the planning thread now and then to see what else we're planning.

I'm from the consolidated Kansas thread as well. I was wondering how early birds could be put in the building and what time selling would start. It is a long ways to drive from here. Are there fees involved like per cage or whatever? I assume we bring our own cages. Do the cages go with the birds or does the buyer provide his own?
And I haven't read all the pages but you do realize don't you that all birds must be PT tested before they can be offered for sale in a swap meet, don't you?
I'm not trying to be a know it all but I might have several birds to bring down and just want to help where I can.

I'm not sure about this but I'd venture to say it's not the case here in Oklahoma. It may be a state controlled law.

Just heard from another Okie. We are going to fill this building! Here's the updated map, and I've got photo of the inside (west side) of the show barn so that those of you who've never been there can see what the individual pens look like. They are six feet wide and eight feet deep. The floor is concrete and there are cattle panel sides with a door that opens either north or south. See the map for the direction of the doors on each row.

We do have many group members who are active in showing birds, but because this the first N.E.O.C.S., it's prudent to limit our event to a sale and swap. If attendance is good and interest is high, we may be able to expand the event to a sale, swap, and show next year.
