NE Oklahoma Chicken Stock - Let's Plan!

Coral, you and your crew did a great job of putting this together. We had a good time and got to visit a little with several old friends and made new ones as well. The four chicks were delightful and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Didn't have a chance to get around all over the whole area, but was impressed with all the creativity and edible products, as well as the wide variety of beautiful birds!

Nice to meet you, we're the ones who came home with your Americana trio. Strangly enough, even though it has been HUBBY pushing us to get chickens, *I* am now conniving for a third coop since I managed to snag some gorgeous Cream Legbar chicks. Getting the new-to-us incubator set up for our first hatch ever, and totally under the spell of CHICKEN MATH!!!!

Oh, and we sold a little honey, too. ;)

It was great meeting you two as well. Be careful...chicken math will get the best of you....and you're in real trouble now with an incubator!

In the military at an event index, we do what is called an AAR, After Action Review. We get all the participants together and on a huge wipe board create two columns. One column is labeled "Sustain" that means what worked well and to continue with no change. The other column is labeled, "improve". The rule here is an "improve" can be listed, but should have a possible solution too.

After completing an AAR, then goes into the action plan to start the next event....regardless if the event is in a few months or next year. Who knows, is there enough interest to try an event like this again?...I think so, but am only a single voice....what say you?

READY, SET, GO!!!

I didn't know there would be SO many people, SO many birds and SO many things for sale. I wish I'd have gotten a motel room and been able to get there super early and helped set up and helped clean up. That's what I'm going to plan to do next year. Also-we've got one of those big super powered fans that'll blow the clothes off of you and I wish I'd have brought it for the barn. Someone could've gotten it back to me later since I left early. We could sure use a few of those next year.
Look-I'm ALL for having another one in mid-October, But after all Coral's hard work and planning I don't think she's going to be up to planning even a tea party before next year.
Perhaps charge a small fee for tables? Like even $5 would help cover costs and surely no one would mind that to help out.
Oh-and after seeing your Wheaten Ameraucan girls? If it's all the same to you I'd like to get at least a dozen eggs from you instead of 6

I'm going to get all the babies and birds here set up and get organized and plan on setting them next month. That beautiful butterscotch and white color in person is something pictures don't show.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended and those who wanted to but couldn't make it. I had fun despite my flushed appearance. I think I got a bit dehydrated early in the day.

I have had e-mail and PMs asking that we do another event like last Saturday's next year. I think we will, but I'm going to partner with a few others first. My granny super powers are depleted, so I think I'll find some like-minded chicken enthusiasts to help out.

For sure, we'll pick a month that's cooler than June. (Sorry, June... you're so cool you're just HOT). We'll hire a sound guy rather than rely on a favor from a friend. T-Shirts will come from a big online T-Shirt place a month before event day.

Thanks again, everyone. I had fun and think that the day was well spent. I appreciate the support and look forward to the next time we can get together as chicken friends : )
