Near hawk experience.

Had a Hawk swoop down 30sec after I opened the run this morning. One of my girls saw him first and let everyone know. I turned to go to the door (I was in the coop) and he flew 5' by my head.

I'm sure he'll be back tomorrow. A few mornings ago, he was perched right on top of my coop. The girls told me and I looked out and saw him there.



So temping to take him out. (I know, I know)

I keep bottle rockets in a bottle ready to go at all times. A lighter sitting right next to it.
Hawks hate them.

That's something I might have to try. Shooting one of my guns off to scare him seems like a little bit of overkill.

She is fine. Just a little hesitant to leave the coop now.

Bottle rockets put the explosion right near them in their face. That spooks them.

I keep a BB gun by the coop

Harassment requires a federal level permit which over rides what ever state has in place.

I believe any kind of harassment of a bird of prey is against federal law,
be it guns, bottle rocket, or ping pong balls.

So do forest! Lots of red flag warnings, so fireworks are out.

Way way too much to read and search for. I will call our local branch this week and get a solution without clicking link after link for hours. Sure glad I responded to this thread. Gunna learn what to do or not to do!
