Nearly 3 weeks old chick sleep a lot

Yes, she scared at that time she only recognised just me, my mum and my stepdad. Whenever I go to work always my mum or my stepdad with her. We practically doting her so much. My mum always hold her whenever she sat relaxing on the couch.

If just one chick will imprint on us. I had a single duckling before around 2004 from my yr 12 biology class to do experiments imprinting. At that time we can choose either duckling or chicken we all choose duckling. I got lucky to pick that duckling as a girl and she's not just normal breed either. She had baby feathers on her head like pompoms when she's fully adult. But once she's fully grown we put her outside and she recognizes our pet dog as her mate. So she think she's a dog. My mum also started giving her dog dried food soked in water to her as she still little with freshly salad. She refused to eat duck food even we put out for her for 2 days. Whenever we took her to swim in the creek near our house with dog. He think she's gonna drown so he kept calling her and she did come back. So yep, these are my experience of having single duckling. She's really friendly but when she grow up still friendly but act like a dog because later on we put her outside with the dog.

My chickens which we raised from chicks are pretty friendly, we didn't spend time with every single one a lot (There are 13 we raised 11 from babies) They aren't attached to us but they are friendly. I feel they are getting more and more each year. Also it's super cool they had you do that. I remember (Barley) in 3rd or 4th grade (?) we hatched a batch of chicks.

That is sad. They should have borrowed them from a farm, but still, chicks and ducklings imprint on their caretakers like they were their moms. It's like being taken away all over again. The ones that were kept must have had an amazing life though. That is adorableeee

This is Pumpkin she's the sweetest chicken we have she is really clam and as you can see loves to cuddle. She's an adult now.

That's super cuteeee... I want mine to be like that too. The older hens too old to try now. When we got them they were about 1 month old so we didn't know that we need to hold them to create bond. But 2 new one coming I'll do my best to create that bond.

Ikk, my hens are pretty friendly but not bonded. Although I have this one hen that I got from my relative that couldn't keep her anymore and she's is very friendly, practically a porch chicken. It was so odd though because my relative never really spent time with her. I really think I should have bonded with my chickens more when they were chicks, I didn't know either, but this time I'm going to try harder. It really helps if you have friendly breeds too. Pumpkin is a Salmon Faverolle. I ADORE this breed. I'm also getting some easter eggers soon which I've wanted all year. When they hatch you want to be the first thing they see, and it just gets better from that. Hatching eggs is the best way to bond with chickens, its just tedious at times.

She was adult hen and lost yet she became very friendly and let him hold her all the time. I think chickens know who come rescue or feel that this person is safe to be around.

I never know much of chicken breed but I search that breed you mentioned. They're really beautiful too bad my house doesn't have much space to have lots of chickens.

If you bond with chickens since baby definitely get friendly chickens. Some breed may not be but rules are meant to be broken. Who knows some chickens bond sooo well with owner might end up be different than what they are supposed to be.

I want to have more chickens but too bad I can't. We live in suburban areas and sometimes you may get friendly neighbours but sometimes unlucky. My mum's friend has bad neighbours. He complain about how her hens are noisy one day when she wasn't home she found one of her hen dead due to broken neck and her fish pond been poisoned and all of her fishes dead and her dogs also been poisoned but luckily survived. Yet can't do anything much since no evidence. Even have police here not that much helpful. Not to mention Australia have crazy regulations and laws some even stupid law in each states. Like it's illegal to have rooster unless you have big areas due to noise. That's still understandable since other countries also have similar laws but state I live Queensland can't have hamster as pet same as rabbits. They are consider as pest. Rabbits I understand but why hamster? Yet you allow to have guinea pig. You can't have koi or carp fish almost every states blame those previously own them to abandon them out into river.

Aw, yes that goes for a lot of animals! I watched a video of a yearling fawn who got in a rushing river and was drowning but a fog came and saved her and after that the deer loved her. This of course could be fake but animals do do this!


We live in an urban area, and right now we have 13 chickens on 2 acres. They mostly only stick to half an acre because (probably) our rooster doesn't like them to go far. It's really cute he'll make these nervus sounds when they run off and when he finds them he'll run over and herd them back over, anyways were getting a few more chicks (4 or 5) maybe, but that's just because I really want Easter eggers, (I love Salmon favarolle and speckled suxxes the best but I want to try Easter egger they might be another favorite!)

FOR SUREEE, I have such sweet chickens and I raised 11 at a time! I'm excited to see when I get (If) the few chicks if they will bond even more.

Oh, I hate that!! I can't bare to hear chickens being abused like that. What a horrible neighbor! I would be so mad. And like why the fish???

Oh yes, Faverolles are one of my favorites! They are just beautiful I so agree and they are so goofy yet at the same time different personalities! Salmons are probably my favorite but theres also diffent ones. I really want to hatch some fertile eggs of theirs because our rooster is a Blue cochin (Blue favarolles!)
