Learned something interesting while writing Retribution. One of the best ways to control scorpions. Chickens. They love to kill them.

Ohh thats wonderful news!!!!
When I was, oh, about 13.. we rented a few acres with pasture and a stable (part of the house, so neat!) in Ocala, FL.
One day, I was sitting on this big, lovely, oversized chair, reading my book... and very suddenly I felt this overpowering instinct to 'get up this instant'... and I leaped up out of the chair, without looking around, book landed on the floor.. and I was 2 yards away before I turned around and looked... There was a huge scorpion on the back cushion of the couch!! It would of been right behind my right shoulder while I was sitting! I squeaked or something when I saw it and my mom came running... I was trying to keep the dogs away while she chased it into the kitchen and beat it to death with a broom!
I could never figure out what on earth a scopion was doing in central FL, and I had never seen one before... how did it get into the house... and OH Thank God for making me get up out of that chair!
I love you chickens!!!!

My hens think they are a wonderful snack, the roos won't touch them! If I see them, I get them before the hens, but I've found remnants of them in the run area.

Uggg! Uhhh! The whole idea of those things makes me shudder! You poor thing! After seeing my chicks in action after bugs, I can readily believe they would go for one... but I'm having a hard time imaging a chicken killing something that size! The one behind me that day was about 8 inches long.... and how do the chickens keep away from the tails?
