We live on a quarter in the country in Nebraska. We're looking at getting a few chickens, 6-12. Does anyone know if we need to do anything with registering poultry in the state of Nebraska?

Hi Lambchick!
You do not need ant license to have chickens outside of city-limits. If you are on a quarter, I think you'd be fine

Where are you located? We're in Nance County

Fellow Nebraskan! You should be fine with that number even on a small acreage, not sure who you contact, our realtor did all that for us when we moved in. We are allowed 12 but they said they do not come out and check, only if they get a call about us would they do that.

Thanks everyone!
We live near Pierce, which is northwest of Norfolk. We have a little barn that is in mint condition that needs to be painted and used. SO we decided to get a few chicks and have a few laying hens. I can't believe my husband agreed to it!
