Got 2 eggs this evening ......one small orange/brown "starter" egg, and one that's grade A large size....and PINK .......?
 
The hens seem to like the modifications to the nest boxes ..... and have stopped throwing the shavings and straw out ......
 
Hello to the new comers!

9 eggs a day from my 14 molting birds

Spending tomorrow putting up run Wind breaks and my snow fencing, and draining the irrigation system. Ugh. Where did October go?
 
Ive got a brood of 7 buff orpingtons. Six of them are still not fully grown. My older hen is finishing her molt now too.

My old flock is out in blair, . The guy i gave him to got 10 rhode islands and four buffs from me so far. So his property is always buzzing now.

Yea. I wish i had more time. I trying to fet a six foot fence up in the back yard and clean up more of the dead plants around this house. I bkugbt a fixer upper a year ago so its been a lot of work, but rewarding.

One these days, I'd like to do a meet and greet ..... check out everybody's set-ups ..... talk chicken .... the only family member here that is all intersested is my youngest, and her attention span rivals a chicken's, at times .....

She did collect 4 eggs today while I was at work, but forgot to check the feeder ..... starving girls at 6PM ....

....... this is "Nebraska" ..... you know, in the "Central Flyway" .... so long as there are migrating Ducks and Geese and Doves and Snipe and Rail and A Plethora of Non-Game Species, From the the Very Auspicious Cardinals and Blue Jays, Raw-aught Down to th' Chippin' Sparrow...... Even the Western Meadwlark, our State Bird, makes a short migrations south and east, typically .... but in total, BIRDS, in their HOJIILLIONS, twice a year. EVERY year move through here ...... "Bio-Security" is a Fiction that some occupant of a Big Government or Big Education sinecure is sellin' .... If drug reistant AI is coming to your flock, it ain't 'cause you came to my house to check out my chicken tractor....... and if you signed up as a"registered producer" for the FSMA ..... you gave them (the Feds) carte blanche to euthanise your flock on a mere suspicion of a wild bird (or ANY bird) found dead near you and even suspected of havin AI or anything they think might be harmful to Big Poultry Ops ......
