Necessary to close door?

I believe my run is secure but I still feel better with the girls locked up tight at night. However, I understand the hassle and did put a pulley system on the pop door so I at least wouldn't have to walk into the run to open or close the door. I open things up in the morning right before I leave for work and don't particularly want to track chicken poo to work on my shoes! I also use the time to look at each girl as she comes down the ramp each morning. At night, they go in the coop at dusk but I don't always go out and close things up at the same times each night. I also worry I'll forget some night but even then, I think things would still be fine. I just rest better knowing things are closed up. It's easier for me to close the coop each night than to never know for sure if things are calm.

I started leaving my doves and pigeons open at night, after about a week or two i started noticing alot more footprints around there pen, as in predator, so i started putting them back in at night. you can try leaving them open, I do that occasionally with my chickens if i get back late or just don't feel like doing it.
