I have one of pullets in the fridge who died earlier today i want to know what she had so im thinking about sending her to the local lab. i have one question what happens to the bird after you bring it to them and the do the necropsy? what do they do with whats left?

Be brave. This is an unfortunate but important part of chicken keeping. The first time you send a bird for necropsy is the hardest.
She’s in heaven now...it’s just her earthly body left now.
It’s really important you know what’s going on in in your flock so you can have a plan moving forward. Be brave...for the rest of your flock...I know it’s hard...

I think you are great in getting a necropsy. These lab people are usually easy to talk to if you call them. I think of it as the lab may throw the body away, but their soul has already left and gone to heaven. No I'm not religious. I've also done at least 15 lab necropsies. I do it because I may learn to protect the rest of the flock depending on what they have.
