Hi there, we had a mallard make a nest next to our house and she laid 13 eggs. I came home 10 days ago and she was not around and one of the eggs had been cracked/eaten. I thought she might comeback but has not. Can I help these eggs hatch or is it too late? I live in NJ and the temps have been between 50 - 70 in the past 10 days?

ANy help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

I think you might get some ducklings if you put them in an incubator.

any advice on the incubator process, can i make one myself?

Yes. Go to the main page. There is a link to incubator instructions. I made one like the gopherbator out of an old cooler.

I think you have a good shot at getting some to hatch but you really need to get them in an incubator very soon. Good luck. Keep us posted on how they do. You should be able to make a decent incubator for under $30. The most important part in the thermostat. You can find cheap ones that are decent enough at any pet store that sells reptiles. Just make sure you get an actual thermostat and not a rheostat.

Ok so I bought an incubator and it was received today, when I got home I saw the ducks coming so I put her eggs back, she came up stuck her nose in her feathers that she left on top a couple of times and then left, now what? do I leave them incase she comes back again or should I put them in the bator?
