Originally I had planned to use the "better to beg forgiveness than ask permission" theory as it applied to whether I could raise backyard chickens in my small town. As we started finalizing coop designs, we realized that our mobile coop with electric poultry netting run was not exactly going to be inconspicuous, especially when the bulk of our yard is at the side of our house and not the back.

I have pretty much decided that I have to address the village board to get the ordinance changed. I have been doing research here and other places on the web.

Here's where I need help: There are people who have been raising chickens in town on the down-low in their fenced in backyards for a number of years. By raising this issue I could put them in jepordy and I would hate for that to happen. What should I do?

Thanks

Stay Quiet, Thats my opinion. Changing governments ideas is difficult if you are an insignificant number to them. Install a view barrier. " What mama don't know don't hurt her ". ( quote from "water boy" ) cavemanrich is not a plagiarist

:thumbsup. Agree! Just do your thing and work quietly from brhind the scene until you get a better idea of where the gov't people stand. And maybe talk to the hen owners first?
