This is my first time with a broody chicken and she is really broody. We figured we would let her hatch and she is now sitting on 8 egg. I was pretty sure she had not got off the nest by day 4 yesterday (there was no broody poop anywhere) and it smelled. So yesterday I took her off and had to clean some poop in the box and gently wipe a few eggs. Then she had massive poop explosion. I had to wash her. It was a nightmare. This morning i decide to get her up - her comb is pale. she drank a little and I brought her into the run (it takes her like 10 mins to snap out of the trance!!!). She finally walked around and ate a couple bites and pooped and then I put her back in and she tucked all of her eggs in.
I sectioned off a part of the coop because the other chickens were trying to lay eggs on her and were generally very nosy. I attached a picture. There is food and water in there with her.
This is my favorite chicken. I am worried about her. She really wants to be a mama. Should I just continue to take her off once a day? offer her treats?? I swear she is like a zombie in that box right now. There is a fan blowing because its warm, but its not terrible in there.
If anyone has advice please let me know. I have so many questions- just want to keep her healthy and comfortable.
Thank you!!
Jamie

Some hens just don't quit. I had to manually remove mine twice a day for her to eat, drink, poop, and dust bath. If the weather is greater than 80 degrees, you can probably do this three times a day. A day before they were expected to hatch, I removed her a final time. They ended up taking a day and a half to hatch.

UH I thought this was going to be easier. LOL. When I pick her up and put her down she just stays flopped down like a pancake for a while. Maybe I will put her in the run today when the other chickens are out for her to do her thing?? I don't know but I don't like her floppy pale comb :(-although it seemed ok when she was in the run.
