NEED A SMALL COOP THING FOR MY BROODY HEN!!

I use a rabbit hutch. I have raised many an egg in the hutch and then once they hatch put them in a momma baby pen.

that's wat i have but my dad thinks that the medal bars are like to far apart so a racoon could eat her!

Are you trying to break the hen or brood it? That's the real question. There's some nice rabbit hutches for brooding but breaking a brood is much harder.

In another thread, one lady put her broody hen in a wire cage and put it in the middle of the run to break the broodiness and keep the hen with the flock at the same time. I think a wire rabbit hutch would work nicely for this as long as the run is predator proof (hardware/rat cloth). I've heard to break a broody hen you have to keep her off the nest and get air to her underside. You can also sit the hen in cool water for a couple minutes to cool her underside.

I have silkies, so I've had issues with this. I have locked mine out of the coop during the day, and set them in cool water. If backfired a little in that now they lay eggs in different spots. The cool water works until another hen lays an egg and then my broody starts sitting again. right now it's to hot to confine a hen to a wire cage in the run. But I'm going to try the wire cage.
