Hello all, I'm a bit worried! My duck hatched this morning about 6:00am, at that time my goose egg had pipped externally, but not broken through. When I came back from putting the duckling in the brooder, my goose egg, had broken a big hole in it's shell. This was at about 8am. Well, it's now 10:30 pm and there has been no change in the goose. It's peeping still, but getting a bit quieter. I have not opened the lid since his external pip, but I think he might be shrink wrapped. Humidity is at 75%.

Here is a video, I'm really not sure what to do? Help, or leave? His breathing seams lazy and there are pauses it seems. Please help!

You can help a little. Just gently pick off some shell slowly and make the opening a little bigger or in tell you can see it's beak. Make sure not to break any blood vessels.

The break was already showing. Well, I just checked on it again, it's been almost an hour. Now, the butt is at the opening! It turned it'sself around to the small end! Now what?

I think it's ok!!! WOW, this bird has done nothing for 14 hours and has turned around completely and it's zipping and peeping!! So glad I never touched it!

It appears to be coming out breech!

OMG, Moose is out!!!! LOL Only took 9 minutes! I videoed the whole thing, it's uploading now! I'm so glad I didn't touch it! So here is my conclusion so far. Wed. Morning after 24 hours of an open pip, my duck hatched. This morning, this Goose, named Moose, pipped a hole in the outer shell and did nothing ALL Day! In the last hour, it turned itsself around, pipped a zipper around the shell and got out in 9 minutes! He is now warm and safe in the brooder with Levi! So glad I didn't touch it!

Well done, it´s so hard to know whether to help or not. And we have another Moose!!

I found out something very interesting after my goose hatched! It had an air cell at both ends!!!!

I couldn't see the air cell at both ends when candled!

Here is the video of my goose hatching...
