My Old English game hen hatched 4 chicks 4 days ago and left the nest so the other 5 eggs are abandoned.... After I realized she was off the nest I brought the eggs in and checked them out. Here's the bad part, I heard peeping so I GENTLY opened a tiny hole without breaking the egg sac and there was a feathered little chick in there. I put them under the heat lamp and then waited. After 8 hours of waiting, I opened a little more...I lifted the sac off his beak and eyes because it's dried out and looking like it should be. He's 1/2 exposed but I left the rest intact. What do I do? And what about the others/? Do they need help because she was off for 2 days and they got cold? I'm at wits end here, this is all new to me.
Temp. is 98 but that's all I have, no incubator.

How are things going? Do you have some moisture around them? A moist sponge or paper towel so they don't start to dry out. I would've done the same thing. Hope things are going good for you.

O.K.,
I got a couple of hours research in here now.... The first one is almost finished hatching ( I think) he's only got about a thread left... he's not lifting up his head but he's peeping. I don't know what to do about the fact that his feathers are looking stiff, ( is he too dried out?) he's not all soft and fuzzy like a chick should be. I wrapped the other 4 in a damp wash cloth leaving the hole exposed... I know I'll be up all night watching him.
