I have had chickens for six years and they are in an enclosed run (lots of raccoons and possums and owls and hawks around, plus coyotes and a bobcat). We had two guinea fowl show up two months ago. They hang around outside the run and roost on top of our coop which is tall. We started feeding them grain and when I call peep peep to them they come running. They seem to want to go into the coop with the chickens but I am leery of this. I have no idea if they are male or female and we are not sure what to do with them over the winter. We are discussing building them a coop on a pole but really have no clue what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have 13 chichens and 5 guineas right now. They are free range during the day but share the same coop all year long. Depending on the size of your coop and roosting area, they should be fine together. There have been some instances of guineas being rough with my chickens in the past, but it was particular individuals, not as a whole. guineas are great alarms for preditor sighting, and excellent for tick control. If you or your neighbors object to alot of noise tho, what i would do is let them in the coop tonight, cage them after dark and advertise them for rehoming. They are very vulinerable outside in trees overnight to Owls, Coons, possoms, feral cats and will probably not last long on there own. They have most likely gone walk-about and there owner may be looking for them.

Our property backs up to core property so its woods behind us. I have asked our neighbors but no one knows who they belong to (I did look on the lost pet page of our county and did not see anything about guineas), so far no one has complained about the noise but we have two acres so hopefully they don't bother anyone. We have gotten attached to them. I have 12 chickens and my run is 12 by 10 feet and my coop is 6 by 8. I don't know if this big enough for them all?

The guineas are not going to be happy confined in a pen full time. They are ment to free range. The second coop without a run might be the best answer. A place for them to be safe at night but free during the day would be best. If that is them in your profile photo they are beautiful! Good Luck! And let us know how this turns out.

That is them. I have been talking with my husband and we think we are going to try to build them the coop that is elevated on a pole and maybe put something around the pole so creatures can't go up it and get to them.
