I have a hen that was attacked by a bobcat yesterday, she has a large wound on her neck about 7" x 3".  I cleaned it last night per the directions listed in post #6 of this thread:

However those directions suggest using the antibiotic Penicillin G Procaine (Aqueous Pen-G). I have Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim on hand and was wondering if I could use this instead. Please advise as I want to get her on antibiotics asap.
 
I currently have her penned in my coop so she can see the other girls. She seems active in her little cage and eagerly ate treats when I offered them. Her stool was slightly runny so I put ACV in her water. Any other advice is much appreciated.
