Are there any signs of injury other then the hanging head?

If not, it could be wry neck. It is a vitamin deficiency. You can try this vitamin protocol and see how it goes...

.5mls poly vi sol, without iron, daily
400 ius of vitamin E twice daily.

You can get both at your local Walmart. Will run you about $10. Try this for several days...see if the symptoms get better. I would keep him in the house in a safe, dry place until he gets better. Otherwise, the other chickens might jump on him and he would be far worse off.

no... i feed them daily fresh food, and it is only him... the others are perfectly fine..

Botulism also naturally occurs in the soil and in compost bins, leaf litter, etc. It is also more prevalent in the heat and you see more cases of it during hot spells.

Yes, rotting and decaying grass material can be a problem.

As for the medication. You need to buy poly vi sol, without iron. It is a children's vitamin that comes with an eyedropper with the dosages marked on the side. You need to give your chicken .5 mls each day.

Vitamin E capsules come in many doses. You can pick them up in the vitamin aisle of any store. Get the 400 iu dosage. Snip the end off and squeeze the gel into the front of the chicken's beak.

she cant realy stand anymore either... it seems to be worsening

I would encourage you to have a necropsy performed if she passes or if you feel the need to euthanize. That is going to be the only way that you will know what really happened and if it is anything that you need to worry about with the rest of your flock. You can contact your local government extension office and find out the location of the nearest state lab. They usually will do necropsies for little to no cost. Some people have found all the info they need for the state lab on the internet.

Sounds alot like a viral infection with the spreading issues.. Try searching online to find a vet near you, call them and explain the issues and see what they suggest before spending money on an office visit .
