We just had 14 incubated silkie eggs hatch this weekend. All came from our backyard flock and all are doing very well except one.
I helped her hatch after being pipped for over 24 hours. She was cheeping and moving around the egg but just couldn't get out. I placed her in the incubator to dry off and she stayed curled up like she was still in the egg. After moving to the brooder with the others, I noticed that her toes were curled under her. I gave her about 18 hours with no change. We just made cardboard "boots" for her, but she still can't walk and just sits on her haunches and flops her body forward.
I just supplemented her with a drop of NutriDrench which she happily gobbled up. She peeps quite a bit and seems strong enough, but just can't get her legs under her to stand up straight.
Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this before... Would love some advice. Thanks.
