I had a little problem with feather picking when my pullets were little, and put pine tar on a few of them to discourage it.

Now, all the birds are fully feathered, but I still have a few with ugly pine tar stains on their feathers.

What is best to get it off? I bought some Dawn (I'm thinking maybe if it works for oil spills on wildlife, it will work on pine tar on chickens), but I would like to use the best thing first, rather than go through a trial and error process, bathing chickens with every attempt!

Anybody know what really works?

I'd give the dawn a go if they use it save penguins and other bird from oil spills I think it would do a great job getting the tar off. Good luck

Big Orange hand cleaner will remove it. Wrap birds wing with ace bandage so you can work on it. Place on hand under feather and dab with cleaner wait a few minutes and wipe off with cloth.

Okay! The Big Orange approach sounds easier on both me and the chickens than giving them a bath! Thanks everyone!
