Maybe Falcon is suggesting that we should give roosters puzzles to solve and make them too confused to fight.????
Never thought of that...Maybe Falcon is suggesting that we should give roosters puzzles to solve and make them too confused to fight.![]()
Is that meant to let them get "away" from each other without needing a big space?Put one of these in a bachelor hutch....

My 5 boys are currently still living with the whole flock, they are all almost 15 weeks old. I’m debating on buying premade run off of Amazon OR snoop around on fb and pick up some free pallets to repurpose. There is an old, unused chicken house that can be used for the boys, just need to replace wood in some places, add roosts, and add a door! It’s been a few months and I’m wondering how the OP made out with the rooster bachelor pad? I am considering the same thing for my 8 week old cockerels.
This is so true. Just about the time you say "my chickens never..." There they go just 'nevering' like a pro.
I have to laugh, cause I too, have a production red - she went broody and lays a GREEN egg!
Well that’s reassuring to know they are all still living together in relative harmony. I’ve been thinking about using pallets as well for the rooster bachelor pad. I made a dog house with pallets a few years back for our large dog. The chickens now use it for a dry area during our rainy winters. I put a tire in there with dirt so they can dust bathe. It’s very solid and I just wrapped the hardware cloth around it when making the outdoor run.My 5 boys are currently still living with the whole flock, they are all almost 15 weeks old. The boys are fine with each other at the moment, but they will engage in sparring matches with each other. The top male is pretty lax and only goes after the other boys if they’re not respecting his space or I guess if they annoy him lol. The boys should have been in their own space like yesterday, so I’m hoping my father will give me the ok to proceed with buying a run or collecting pallets. I will update you when the bachelor pad has been completed!
