A little town in northern NH
So I live in Northern NH and I have 2 NH Red Hens. they were born on April 29th 2009. I used to have a flock of 5 but 3 of them got killed and one got injured but survived. I was really cold, so I had kept them in the basement but now I have no other option but to put them back into their coop that is not insulated. I just checked the weather for tonight, and it says it's supposed to be 16 degrees tonight. My question is, will my chickens be able to survive in the coop even if the temp drops below zero?

It's a little scary, but if the coop is draft free, clean and has a lot of bedding they should be okay. Make sure they have ample food and fresh water, and give them some scratch grains as well.

if they are out of the wind and dont have a breeze blowing on them and as long as they can snuggle they should be ok. if its possible to do safely you could hang a warming lamp. but I would honestly try and find a few more hens that after QT they would have more body heat and friends to snuggle with. Im not big on "unatural" heat and light for any of my animals.

our coop is not insulated, and its been getting below zero many nights. I have 7 hens and two roos and everyone is just fine.

How long have they been inside? The big change for them will be from going from a nice warm house to a cold coop. And going from five to two. I'm sure they will be fine but I know I would add a heat lamp for a few days to get used to it but thats just my opinion. I keep heat lamps on all winter for mine and it keeps them laying well too
