Thanks to everyone who replied! I really appreciate the warm welcomes! I know I'll never get my girls back but will always hold out hope to have another flock in the future. My county law states I have to live in an area rated AG or agricultural which is silly because there is a goat farm not 2 miles from my home in my neighborhood. Somehow, he is rated AG. Oh well, we hope to be moving in 5 years or so anyways out to a country area in my county so maybe then we will have success.

It is so rewarding when you can hand your 10 year old a just laid and still warm egg and say, "I bet you will never find another child in your school who has held a freshly laid egg!" and see your child's face light up with joy! That's the beauty in having chickens and they were so worth the 6 months we spent hand raising them. What a wonderful experience that no one can take away from our family.
