Crazy Chicken Math
So last night one of my Campbell drakes was trying to breed out side the pool and his "pee pee" was hanging out dangling down and my Chickens and other Ducks thought it was a worm and it was pecked pretty bad. I put them all away last night in the coops but when I went out today he was pecked again and pretty bloody. He spends lots of time in the pools I have out for them and stays away to himself. I managed to get a hold of him today and was able to clean it and put Blu-Kote on him and around the area, He has lots a swelling on it and looks like it would heal up. I have never had this happen to our ducks before and not sure if I should just have him put down? Any advice out in the world of duck people would be outstanding....Thanks a bunch!!
Apply some preparation H to the penis if it is still outside his body. It should help with the swelling. I have also heard some people have success with applying honey. It's very important that the swelling goes down and he is able to retract it, or the tissue will eventually die.
