Need advice on keeping 4 chickens contained

The area that they have is too large and I think that would be extremely costly. I’ve heard wing clipping does not work. But it is one option. Thank you for your advice.
Wing clipping rarely works for determined flighty chickens. What you've heard is correct.
Netting would seem your best option.

what is the best wing clipping process? I know the first six feathers are for height. Do you clip one wing or both?
Welcome to BYC. I do the 10 flight feathers on one or both wings.
Wing Clipping

Wing Clipping

The act of clipping the wings of your backyard flock is a harmless and helpful domestic trick. You can clip a chicken's wings at any age and it won't hurt them. Normally, chickens shouldn't have their wings clipped unless they get adventurous enough to try and escape from their enclosure...

This is for ducks, but same goes for chickens.
