I actually started out with 14 keets and sold 7 of them at about 4 months old because I could see that their insane, ranting noise would soon drive me out of my mind. Over these last few days, they are getting into a better pattern of expanding their feeding range and not paying so much attention to the roosters. One big, happy family now!
LOL @ insane ranting noise!!! Exactly
I have 49 adults and when one goes off, they all go off
Glad to read that things are more peaceful for your mixed flock
Through my own personal experiences I really feel that free ranging and elbow room are both crucial to raising a happy flock, be it mixed breeds or just mixed sexes.
There is no rulebook set in stone when it comes to Guinea Fowl, so it's really hard to give others the correct advice without knowing the full aspects of the dynamics of the flock in question, their coop/pen and the property situation. Just because the info/advice given happens to pertain to their flock and situation doesn't mean it pertains to everyone else's. A lot of what I read I take with a grain of salt, especially if I've seen and experienced the exact opposite
