This is the first time I have had chickens, I wanted to know, how you clean them, (with just water?) And how long you can store them in your fridge (whenever I buy eggs from the store, they are gone in a week, so I never pay attention to how long I have had them, cause they dont last long enough). And once my girls really get laying (I have 23) I plan on selling what we dont need, so this information would be really helpful! Thanks in advance for the advice!

Do a search of BYC on the topic of cleaning and storing eggs, and you'll find a lot of threads along with a wide variety of answers. You have to decide what you're comfortable with. Some folks will say don't wash or refrigerate eggs. Other people wash and refrigerate eggs. I choose to do the latter option. When I bring the eggs into the house, I wash them gently with an organic egg cleaner - using very warm water. Then I rinse, pat dry and store in an egg carton in the refrigerator. I mark the date they were laid on the egg carton. Lots of folks will talk about how washing them removes the "bloom" on the egg. I rarely have eggs that are over a week or two old - so whether or not I wash off the bloom makes absolutely no difference to me.

Read all the threads and the replies you'll get here - and decide what you want to do - what you're most comfortable with.
