need advice on using a covering for plywood floor of coop

By the look of yours it looked bigger than ours, I guess you really can't tell in photos. I'm glad you like the way it looks. Are you going to put the chicken water in the coop? Storage is a good idea. Chicken feed could go on the other side, straw if you're going to use that on top of the floor.

With ours being wooden floors plus plastic if we did have to for some reason put the water container inside the plastic (I hope) would keep the wood dry. He divided ours just in case he decided to get some baby chicks we could put them on the other side so the Hens would not get to them. We are set right now with 7, lost four from May on I think, I would have to look at calendar. Lost Rooster and my favorite Hen and two Australorps. Ours are down to 1 or 2 eggs now compared to 4 or 5 in September.

Doc doesn't really know what caused the pain. He thinks it's a cyst on lower right quadrant. Pain went away over night after I went to Urgent Care, they called in a Rx took one that night and the next morning pain was gone. There was a big bump, then three days later follow up at doc and bump was way smaller. It could be a blockage or the cyst the doc thinks it is. I guess when I check online tomorrow I'll look to see if the test results are there. Doc office hasn't called yet since the scan was yesterday. Maybe I was blocked and just passed and I'll be fine. Just hope that is the case. I don't like these scans. It made me feel really bad the rest of the day yesterday. I'm on drinking lots of fluids to flush out the stuff during the scan. The sooner the better.

Thanks cluckcluck. :) Yes so far the plan is to have water inside and outside too. Now that you've mentioned it, I probably will start just using half and keep the other side free until I need it. Whenever that will be..
Good luck on your scan results, hopefully it isn't bad. :fl

@latestarter, thank you! But it only looks neat from the end, from the sides it rolls up and down a bit. DH suggested I stencil on draft markings (like on a ship for any land lubbers who donna ken what thet is ;) ) so I can tell how deep the litter is.

24 years retired Navy LOL. Trust me when I say the draft markings will be about useless as the birds will scatter it all over the place and tend to drift it up against the bulkheads. If you start with about 6-8 inches depth, that will do ya for a good long while... probably several months, before you'll need to add more, and the additions will be minimal.

:gig but we'll know it's there! DH was in just 6 as a HT (nuke). Stationed on the Long Beach, Proteus, and a third (edited to add the Ranger, but only as a transport) I can't recall right now. I think he misses the ships sometimes....
I AM so looking forward to the day I can get my chickens! I think the deep litter method is going to work great! 6-8", hmm, I've got access to pine needle duff, have you ever tried mixing that in?

Mix in a little of everything, green as well as brown; weeds, garden waste, leaves, twigs and branches, wood chips, you name it. I'd go light on straw though as it doesn't absorb well or break down easily. Oh, and make sure you throw in a couple shovels full of good rich garden dirt or compost to get the ball rolling

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried using a rubber sheet instead painting the floor with Black Jack rubber? If so, where did you find it and does it last? Thank you!

Instead of looking for something like that. Just stir, dump and spread the Blackjack, and forget about your floor. Can't be any easier than that.

It seems like an awesome idea, I'm just trying to work on a budget, and it's a little out of my price range.

Just trying to get more ideas. Thank you for your help.

Can't wait to see when you get some chicks.

Results of the scan not sure yet. I felt very bad until yesterday in the stomach area. Everyone is different after a test. Dr office put in for me to see a specialist next Thursday. Just back with the squish and tuck, lab work, urine test. Dr office didn't tell me I was getting the last one yesterday and I was suppose to fast, now they tell me. Well can't do it if they don't tell me. Dr office said they were a little concerned about gallbladder that is why I'm going next week and hubby said he is not going to let them do anything like surgery if it is not needed. They are a surgeon but I think it is to feel and push in the area. Hope so.

@cluckcluckhens Good luck to you with your medical issues, but I agree with your hubby, unless it's really needed why run the risk of surgery?
I was wondering if you had any pictures of your coop and especially the floor....maybe when you're feeling better you can post a few. I'd love to see it. And the chickens, of course!
