Need advice on working dogs

Ninny,

Please note, my posts were an attempt to address what kind of dog breed to look for as your next dog and also info on carts for dogs.

I'm sure your Lab will be big enough to pull a cart. Though I am curious if he will want too. My Labs seem really good at laying on the porch and eating

They're not really up on the concept of work.

There is a silver mini, same family of dogs as my silvers, who is titled in UKC weight-pull. The same dog has hunting retriever and water rescue titles, as well as an assortment of more traditional titles.

I love when people are gutsy enough not to be limited to what a certain breed "should" do, and let fly with what they CAN do.

I figured I would bring this thread back.

I have a 1 1/2 year old border collie mix who needs a job!

She is 45 lbs. And is bouncing off the wall most of the time.

I wonder if I could train her to do carting and bring in small loads of firewood. How much do you think she could pull? I don't want to push her too much, I just want her to burn off some of that energy, and I am sure she would love it too.
I also have a hound mix who is 60lbs, but I don't think she would be interested in it.

That's cute. You just gave me an idea! I bet I could get my grandma's 2 chihuahuas to pull a little cart full of vegetables (from her garden).

That would be hilarious!

I should say that my Kiowa pulls wonderfully. He evens pulls the kiddos in the water! Its cute to see them bobbing after him. He pulls them in the sled too.
