NEED ADVICE! OSB coop just got soaked

So they cant attach to the paint? What about stain? I have oil/latex redwood stain. I was planning on buying the diatomaceous earth. where do I get the others? ash and peat?

No, they hide in the wood itself and come out at night. I have used paint but not stain so I will let someone else answer that one. Burn some wood for the ash. Peat and DE are usually found at farm supply stores and feed stores.

Umm we have fire restrictions here in desert, no burning wood. Do I have to have that? Sorry if I seem ignorant-I am when it comes to this stuff but I am learning

Do your fire restrictions allow you to barbeque? You could burn wood, a bit at a time, in an outdoor grill.

No, that poster is going the natural way. It is a personal choice and I hope they can provide advice on anything else you can use natural. I personally have sand for them to bathe in and I use poultry dust on my birds to prevent lice and mites.

No, you don't have to use the wood ash if it is not available. For us, we heat with a wood-burning fireplace in the winter so have a good, free supply. The rest we have to buy. The other 3 together would work just as well.

okay sounds good enough for me. I will see what I can get and try to keep my chicks as healthy as possible. Any other feedback on the staining for mite prevention?

It looks like you are looking at the natural way, you might want to look up the benefits of adding DE to the food as well, I don't know much about how they add it, but I have come across many threads where people swear by it for the health benefits. Something to think about.
