I have two 9 week old chicks that are Polish/Silkie frizzles. They have been inside up until a few days ago. The weather has been beautiful. In the seventies and eighties, and about 50 at night. They have a coop and run, and they are in the back of the coop, in the build-in nest box with lots of grass hay. Their coop door is open at all times. There is a window, but it is near the top of the coop, and there is no draft from that. The weather changed suddenly, and it's going to get down to 34 tonight! I don't know what to do. Will they be too cold? Should I bring them in?

One has a few small areas where it is more like fur than feathers. Does that mean it isn't fully feathered? I'm especially worried because they had no time to acclimate when the weather turned cold so quickly.

Mine are six weeks old I think, fully feathered, and they have been out in a covered run with a coop for about a week. Temps got down in the 20s and I closed the coop door when they went up at night and took the water in. They have plenty of hay and bedding in the coop. In the morning I let them out and they are all fine and hungry. Since it warmed up I have been leaving the coop door open since the the run is secure. They cuddle up to one another for warmth, but that's what chickens do.

Thank you, and they are fine and hungry this morning! It's supposed to be a LITTLE warmer tonight, then it'll get down to 31 in a few days, after that a bit of a warm-up, but I don't know for how long. Here, we rarely get colder than 15 degrees, so I think they're good to stay outside now. Again, thank you to those who replied!
