1-how many nesting boxes do I want for ten chickens ?
I have 3 double size (24x12) boxes for 30. One box fits 1-4 chickens.
2- how high off the floor should I put them. I know I want them lower then the roost
high enough so they could walk under (to save the floor space)
3- what kind of nesting box is everyone using? I’ve seen a few different choices online.
approx 24x12 plywood with mesh bottom (to let the dust/poop through) and 6" high removable board to keep the bedding in.

Now I have a few nesting box questions

1. I have 3 boxes for my flock of 10.
2. That's up to you. Floor nest boxes eat up space and if you have a bad back, might be inconvenient to pick up eggs from, but I like having the chickens being able to just step into them, and to clean mine I can just topple them over on the floor and voila, cleaned out nests.
3. I built mine out of plywood. The lid is sloped (to keep birds from sitting on top) and hinged to the wall to hold the boxes firmly in place, while the unit of boxes is actually freestanding.
