Need advice. Shed to coop conversion

Gonna add 4 more holes and I think that will be enough
How big are these holes...4"?
Are they in both ends of shed?

Might be enough for winter, if you never cover them up.
But not likely to do the trick in summer.

Opening the all soffits(as suggested earlier) also would be enough for all year around,
and probably deter any condensation on the underside of the metal roofing.

They are 6” holes.

Each gives you 28 square inches. You need 5 of them to make a single square foot.

Each adult, standard size hen needs 1 square foot of ventilation. So for your proposed 10-20 birds you need 50 of those holes on the low side to 100 on the high side.

When it comes to fresh air, you need to think square feet, not square inches. This is why we're suggesting to just cut out the siding on the gable triangles completely. :)

If, and I'm guessing by comparison to the 6" holes, the gable triangle is 2 feet high and the shed is 8 feet wide then taking out that siding would give you a generous 8 square feet instead of the not-quite-2 square feet that your proposed 10 holes would provide.

The entire roof is open an inch where it meets the wall.
Huh, I didn't see any light coming thru there.
Why I suggested removing the blocking.

Been super busy at work and haven’t been able to do anything with my coop. Today I found some flooring that was damaged so they gave it to me for $5 a roll. I also picked up a sawzall to do some cutting to the top of my coop. I also found some large tree branches that I want to try as roosts. Not so if they will work or not

many suggest wide flat roosts (such as made out of 2x4 laid flat) in cold climates so chickens could cover their tows while roosting.

PS: the downside of wider roosts - more chance of them catching poop when chickens walk along them

SCORE!!!!

I use tree "branch" roosts and my hens are quite happy with them.

I put branch in quotes because most of them are the trunks of pine saplings that needed to be cleared anyway. I make sure that they are no thinner than my husband's wrists.
